A great introduction to garment sewing for beginners. A great beginner class where you will learn the basics of garment construction using woven fabrics. Shirt No. 1 is a simple, oversized, boxy dolman tee, with bias binding around the neckline.
Topics covered include: basics of tracing a pattern, choosing a pattern, drafting between sizes, tips for garment construction with wovens, making and using bias binding, french seams, and simple hems.
Note: A gentle review of cutting and sewing basics will be provided but you should already be able to sew a straight line.
The price includes the pattern, and 2m + a fat quarter of fabric from our recommended list. Select from the recommended fabrics when registering so that we can pre-wash your selection.
If you choose to exclude the pattern, you must bring your own copy of 100 Acts of Sewing - Shirt No. 1 to class.
We have sewing machines (Janome HD 5000) available for use during the class or you can bring your own.
