Heavyweight Multi-Gauze - Navy/Copper Stripe - 1/4m

-

$11.00

This is plush and textural and yarn-dyed; basically it's like the designer reached into my head, rummaged around in my brain and made something perfectly encapsulating everything I ever wanted in a fabric. I never realized working for a fabric store would be so dangerous, but between the stacks of bolts, the fabric weasels, and my crow-like penchant for pretty things, it's gotten a little harrowing.

Not only do we have texture galore in this fabric (it plumps up when you wash it!), it's made form cotton, linen and ramie, so it's got all the big natural fibres in it - huge Eco win there! It consists of multiple layers of gauze which are connected in the weave- just like a double or triple gauze, but on a larger scale. There appears to be two layers of gauze, but it's a heavier weight and the stripes especially plump up- so there may be a little more going on in there than I can see. The front side is striped but the back side is black.

** please note, due to the layers of gauze in this fabric, we STRONGLY recommend overlocking or stitching the edge before you wash; it does fray in the wash so make sure you finish any raw edges!**

  • Width: 60", 153 cm
  • Content: 53% Linen, 30% Ramie, 17% cotton.
  • Weight: heavyweight
  • Opacity: opaque
  • Drape: semi-fluid; it has some structured body due to the weight, but it much more fluid than most heavyweight fabrics.
  • Care: wash cold, tumble dry low, make sure to finish all raw edges before washing.
  • Best suited for: coats, blazers, heavy skirts

Fabric is priced and sold by the 1/4 metre. We cut multiple 1/4 metres continuously. For example; 2 units is 1/2m, 3 units is 3/4m, 4 units is a full metre, 5 units is 1.25m. A single 1/4 metre will be cut as a fat quarter, unless you request a skinny quarter. Fat Quarters are half the width of the fabric x 0.5m, whereas Skinny Quarters are the full width of the fabric x 0.25m. We do this so you can order just as much fabric as you need, to decrease fabric wastage.

While we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of our photos, please be aware that we cannot control for individual monitor or display settings and colours may appear different in person than on screen.
