Ooooh, this is luxurious. Wonderful brushed wool coating that is sleek and sophisticated. It has a very slight nap which is more obvious on one side of the fabric than the other. Made of 100% wool, you can't get any better for warding off the chill- plus, if you're an absolute overachiever, you could needle felt some adornments. I personally prefer to intend to do something like that, and then never actually get around to it (but I do think about it every time I wear the item, that's practically the same thing). While intended for outwear, this fabric is lightweight enough that you could make a wonderful blazer, heavyweight skirt, or accessories like a hat or scarf out of it. it isn't quite as soft as a merino, so I'd recommend lining it if your skin is a little more sensitive.
This is a heavyweight fabric, but as far as coatings go, I'd call it a midweight coating. It has a teeny bit of stretch due to the fabric content.
- Width: 147/152cm 58/60"
- Content: 100% wool
- Weight: heavyweight fabric, but midweight for a coating
- Opacity: opaque
- Stretch: just a teeny bit of stretch selvedge to selvedge approx 5%
- Drape: full bodied with a nice gentle drape
- Care: brush to remove dried dirt, air out in the sun to remove odors. Can handwash; washing in the machine on a wool cycle is at your own risk ;)
- Best suited for: coats, heavweight skirts, blazers
Fabric is priced and sold by the 1/4 metre. We cut multiple 1/4 metres continuously. For example; 2 units is 1/2m, 3 units is 3/4m, 4 units is a full metre, 5 units is 1.25m. A single 1/4 metre will be cut as a fat quarter, unless you request a skinny quarter. Fat Quarters are half the width of the fabric x 0.5m, whereas Skinny Quarters are the full width of the fabric x 0.25m. We do this so you can order just as much fabric as you need, to decrease fabric wastage.
