Oh goodness, this fabric. I am an absolute sucker for interesting wovens; and this collection from Ruby Star Society is the very definition of interesting wovens. They've used various weaving techniques to create fabric with texture, interest, and- dare I say it- a little bit of intrigue. If this fabric was a British Detective; it would be the Miss Marple of fabrics. Seemingly traditional and gentle, but whip smart, sassy, and generally just all around amazing. I make no promises about this fabric's ability to solve surprisingly frequent small town murder cases though. What is happening in those little hamlets? If British mystery shows are to be believed, those towns are hotbeds of criminal activity.
Once again I've gone off on a tangent; I'm supposed to be writing fabric descriptions but all I can think of is how likely it is that Miss Marple is actually the criminal, and is just really good at framing other people. There's such a high crime rate specifically wherever she lives, I'm just saying.
Anyways, the fabric, right. It really is gorgeous. It is surprisingly lightweight; much more akin to a lawn with fluid movement and gentle drape. I think this particular pattern is my favourite; the teeny tiny mountains add interest and texture to the fabric, without being distracting. They're small enough that you don't have to worry about pattern matching; and the fabric is opaque (always a plus). The selvedge on these is delightful; it's a contrasting colour and I just need to find a way to use it! I always love when fabric designers have an interesting selvedge. It shows an eye to detail and design, and I think it's very loving, too.
This is a remnant bundle of 0.8m and a fat quarter. You get both pieces.
