Finely knit merino wool jersey is a lightweight and luxurious natural fabric to wear close to the skin. Wool's property to absorb a great deal of moisture without feeling wet, combined with its ability to keep you warm even when damp (unlike cotton) make this merino wool jersey an ideal fabric for base layers for the whole family. You can make underwear and lingerie, t-shirts, and anything else requiring a little wool luxury. This is an extremely high quality wool jersey, soft, breathable, lightweight and warm. Wool is natural, eco-friendly, long-wearing, and you can even compost it. It requires very little cleaning; brush off any loose dirt, and hang it outside if it is in need of an airing out.
I personally love wool. I've made this jersey into hats, neck warmers, mitt liners, long johns, base layer tees, pyjamas and more. It's practical and luxurious, and surprisingly warm for such a light layer. The toques I've made are among my family's favourites, as they are lightweight enough to fit under a hood, but warm enough for winter walks. They breathe, so you stay warm but not sweaty.
Please note: due to the manufacturing process, there may be holes along the selvedge edge (within 1" of the selvedge edge). This is a normal part of the manufacturing of this fabric and is not a flaw, however we recommend laying out your pattern so it does not overlap the selvedge edge.

Fabric is priced and sold by the 1/4 metre. We cut multiple 1/4 metres continuously. For example; 2 units is 1/2m, 3 units is 3/4m, 4 units is a full metre, 5 units is 1.25m. A single 1/4 metre will be cut as a fat quarter, unless you request a skinny quarter. Fat Quarters are half the width of the fabric x 0.5m, whereas Skinny Quarters are the full width of the fabric x 0.25m. We do this so you can order just as much fabric as you need, to decrease fabric wastage.
